Ricochet was initially developed as a training game for Association Croquet but it has also developed in its own right with its own special rules.
Like Association Croquet, four balls are used, and it is usually played by two players (singles) or four players (doubles). Points are scored by each side running the six hoops in order and then running them in reverse with two balls followed by pegging out.
When a ball hits another ball, the player gets two extra shots. The major difference with Association Croquet is that the striker ball is not picked up and placed touching the struck ball but played from where it landed.
Ricochet requires some but not all of the ball skills of Association Croquet and the tactics are somewhat different. It is still an enjoyable and challenging game that can be played by all ages.
